Hidden code

Abstract

The user must use his deduction skills to find the digits of a hidden code. Depending on the level chosen, this code will have more or fewer digits (3, 4 or 5).

In each position there is a different number. That is, the digits of the hidden code are different from each other. There cannot be the same repeated number.

The challenge is to find the correct combination with the minimum number of attempts.

Buttons and options

Level: above there is a button that when pressed restarts the game with a new hidden code. The level number defines the number of digits in the hidden code.

Best score: 3 markers appear at bottom, one per level. What is scored is the number of attempts you make to hit the hidden code.

Numeric keyboard: at the bottom there is a bar of digits from 1 to 9. You have to press one of them to place that number in the last row of the central board. If you press the "digit"  X  we can delete numbers that we have placed in the last row.

Central board: it has 3 parts. On the left, the user will place different combinations of numbers. In the middle there are two columns where the game will indicate two values for each attempt:

• Matching numbers: how many of the digits we have placed in that combination are present in the hidden code.
• Matching positions: how many of those matching numbers have been placed in the same position that they occupy in the hidden code.

Thus, the deductive effort of the user will focus on analyzing these two values very well for each of the combinations that he adds to the board.

Check button: → when the user has populated all the positions in the last row of the central board, a button appears to the right to ask the game to tell us how many digits and how many positions we have hit.

Highlight and Discard buttons

• Mark Candidate If we press this button and then press any number on the central panel, all the cells on that panel that contain the same number will be marked.
• Mark Discarded It is used in the same way as Mark Candidates, but in both cases the boxes are marked in a different graphic style, highlighting or turning off the number in question.

This marking has no effect on the game, it is only a visual aid to the user, so that he can more easily make his deductions and analysis.

We can unmark a number by pressing one of those buttons again and then pressing that number on the board.
